And the Beatings Go On…
And the Beat Goes On, and On; Alex DeLuca; War on Doctors/Pain Crisis blog of the Pain Relief Network; 2008-02-20.
Just to remind us that all is very not well for pain doctors and pain patients in America, despite recent progress in Kansas. From Pensacola, Florida, come this brief news item:
Federal authorities announced that three Pensacola doctors have been indicted on charges that they illegally dispensed prescription drugs.
According to a federal indictment, Dr. Geraldo Klug, Dr. Rogelio Martinez and Dr. Osler Rivas illegally prescribed pain medication in exchange for cash while working at Chronic Pain Management on Navy Boulevard in West Pensacola.
Agents with the Drug Enforcement Administration, Internal Revenue Service and Florida Department of Law Enforcement along with investigators from the Escambia and Santa Rosa sheriff’s offices took part in operation “Doc-in-a-Box,” which led to the indictments.
Operation “Doc-in-a-Box”, huh? How positively cute and playful of our swatted-up law enforcement who like to lord it over docs whilst playing at regulating Medicine. Real funny, dudes; you guys are having a grand old time “fighting” the “drug war” - the money just flows, doesn’t it? What would you do without those fabulous (yet unconstitutional) drug war powers pandering politicians have bestowed upon you?
I recommend taking a look at the Comments posted in response to this article. They are divided between long, thoughtful posts by pain patients questioning the status quo of the War on Doctors, and shorter, meaner posts gleefully accepting the initial government media smear as TRUTH, and which urge even more aggressive actions against ‘bad doctors.’
Interesting.
