I have fallen in love with this sound, and these lyrics, and this video and the feelings it evokes in me. Sad that Mr. Sandman apparently died on a stage in Rome of a heart attack at the age of 47. Damn – he gets put on the short list of people I oddly feel close to, but never got the chance to meet.

(and yes, that IS a two string slide bass)

Anyway, it’s a great song. ..alex…

    Might as well leave myself a comment. -smile-

    Favorite lyric:

    I propose a toast, to my self control;
    You see it crawling, helpless, on the floor.
    Someday… there’ll be a cure for pain.

    That’s the day… I’ll throw my drugs away.
    When they find a cure for pain, I’ll throw my drugs away.
    When they find a cure for pain.

    – Mark Sandman, Morphine, “Cure for Pain”

    I usually don't listen to this type of music; guess I'm kinda sensitive to less melodic types. This one though – don't know why I listened, but I did. Man, it hits, not close to home, but right in in the damned living room! Yeah – we all know there's a cure for pain, but it has to start with cleaning up the criminal justice system, meaning the damned Justice system is this country's second biggest criminal organization! Another generation might finally win this fight, but this one, mine, is dying now of uncontrolled pain in the midst of a plentiful supply of a cheap agent that, dammit anyway, DOES cure pain! It's just that we're so much more profitable remaining in pain, easy victims for the greedy and unscrupulous, including the criminals of the justice system. That's why I'm here typing on the computer at 1:19 AM and unable to sleep, alone since my wife died with only me, half-crippled most of the time, completely crippled the rest of the the time, to care for her. She, with her love and unwavering faith in me was the most wonderful, magical thing ever to happen to me. Now it's just me again, caught in the damned gears.

    There's more than one kind of prison.
