I agree totally! That poor doctor needs to just get away far from Witchita. Those non-intelligent jurors destroyed his reputation!! It's insane, would you rather a terminal ill family member die in pain than to die peaceful with no pain!?And i agree about Dr. Naramore precribing pain killers, i can't get a doctor to give me anything stronger than ibuprofen. I have chronic back problems and arthrtis in my knees, hands and back and doctors are so afraid of being sue they won't give nothing stronger.Please Dr. Naramore try to hang in there i support you.

Kansas is a goofy, backward state where people are overly religious and poorly educated. I have had the most terrible psychiatric care I have ever experienced while living in Wichita for 13 months, and I'm from Iowa originally. Doctors were so afraid to prescribe anything related to pain control, anxiety, ANYTHING that could potentially be abused in any way in Wichita that I literally had to go through benzodiazapine withdrawal each time I ran out of my anxiety medication Ativan (every month) as they refused to put refills on it until I could come in for an appointment, which was at their convenience, of course. Now, I have to move BACK to Wichita for my husband's job for at least 3-4 yrs. and I'm pretty terrified about the prospect of getting terrible medical care once again.

Didn't he just plead guilty and get 2 years for participating in a Drug Pipeline to Eastern Kentucky?

I am a nurse in Kansas and realize there are cases that need another look but this one was rediculous. Having a jury with no medical background was not a jury of this doctor's peers and I was appauled to hear a juror condemn him because he did not have the personality of a physician, what does that mean??? Now we have criteria for what personality qualifies a person to become a physician or we just go ahead and convict them because we don't like the guy's personality?? Give me a break! Part of the grieving process is to blame someone for the loss of a family member and I think that is really what started this whole situation. Way to go Kansas for realizing you made a mistake!! However, Dr Naramore's reputation is irreparably damaged. Hang in there Dr Naramore! There are intelligent people in your community and across the country that support you based on the facts in this case. Take care.

Wow what a tragedy! I watched the American Justice Program on this case and cannot believe what happened to this poor doctor. Sounds like a witch hunt in the midwest! No wonder physicians are scared to prescribe anything these days. Every time you turn around one of them is being sued. My heart goes out to the familes that lost their loved ones but suing the doctor did not save their loved ones. Even if he hadn't given the medication they would have died only in pain and suffering.

Thank you for the previous comments. I think it is very important that patients of good docs caught up in these terrible and socially destructive drug war prosecutions speak up, simply and eloquently as you both have done.

I think Naramore is a good doc from what I've read and from my experience with cases like his. But you know Stan Naramore is a good doc and a good man. Big difference.

Experience trumps knowledge; knowledge trumps belief. Thanks again.

i just saw the american justice episode about this doc. research the case. OMG those country idiots in kansas that convicted this doc should all be put behind bars. what a ridiculous mockery of justice!

Dr. Naramore was my son’s doctor back in 1980 or so. He was the best doctor anyone could ask for. I felt completely confident and never left his office feeling like my questions weren’t answered.

Dr naramore never wrote any prescriptions for oxycontin. I used to work for him. He is a wonderful man and physician
