House Committee on the Judiciary, Subcommittee on Crime, Terrorism, and Homeland Security

Dear Friends,
The House Judiciary Committee, Subcommittee on Crime, will be holding hearings on DEA oversight Thursday, July 12, 2007. As a result of my visit to Washington, DC in early June, the recent New York Times Magazine Cover article, and the assistance of many good friends on and around Capitol Hill, I have been invited to testify. This is a HUGE opportunity for the Pain Relief Network (PRN) to present its case to a wide and influential audience.
- Our goal is to get the DEA/DOJ out of the business of prosecuting doctors for prescribing legal medicines. Should the people of a state find that the state is acting to suppress the management of pain, they can organize against the government’s behavior and change it.
- We are also asking everyone who has a pain management story to tell, or an informed opinion to offer regarding the pain crisis in America, that they deliver it to their Congressional representative prior to the hearing so that it may be entered into the Congressional record; please also send a copy to us at info@painreliefnetwork.org.

I am interested in attending the hearing tomorrow and called my representative to find out if I need a ticket or pass for the hearing. I was told that all I need to do is show up at Rayburn office building and go through security. Is that correct? Also, does anyone know the best way to get there once I’m in the DC area–like where to park, should I take the metro from an outlying location, etc? I appreciate any help anyone can give me. I’m a physician and would like to attend and lend my support, but I know nothing about the DC area and really need some advice.
